Bud’s first Cricket Bat
Where the Love is at!
It is with great shame that I have been watching the GOP, the party which has had social conservatism and family values as core principles, burn out like a supernova recently. Today, I came across this flow chart at Talking Points Memo to help keep score. It made me chuckle a bit and yet there is a glare of sad hypocrisy which is hard to miss, that is unless the social conservatives are too blinded by their own version of the truth to see that. It seems that The Washington Times has also been watching this death spiral provinding us with this lovely summary of the recent chain of events,
In politics, hypocrisy has become a heavy cross to bear for those who once sought to own the moral high ground.
Not that Democrats are models of purity what with the shining examples provided by Bill Clinton last decade and John Edwards in the recent couple of years, it does appear that while the Republicans are down and out, they are going the full monty and really getting deeply embroiled in the mud. Perhaps, there will be a realization that using moral absolutism is an extremely tactless strategy as it is an impossible ground to hold in this world. These people who claim that marriage between two loving people will destroy their own marriage just because those people are of the same sex are miserably wrong.
The Social Conservative stance has been consistently hypocritical. Whenever they have a problem, unwanted teenage pregnancy, gay sex affair in the bathroom of an airport, sex with underage boys/girls or prostitutes AND THEY GET CAUGHT; they all hold a big press conference and ask the press to respect their privacy and their own personal decision. That is to say, that when the Social Conservatives get caught, they want to have a choice to make but when they have not been caught they are advocating that other people’s rights; the very same rights they plead for when they are caught; be taken away from them or denied.
Gay marriage and abortion are, in a manner of speaking, choices that individuals have available to them in life. In this world, in this country, they may not hold the same legality(actually abortion is quite legal and it is the interfering with the operation of clinics, as some protesters are want to do, that is illegal) as the choices which are advocated by Social Conservatives however, that will not stop these choices from being made.
We are beyond the point where it makes sense to continue to drive this culture war wedge between members of the population. What we need is a refreshing shake down of the issues so that we can come together and unify around the ways that all American citizens can pursue happiness with life and liberty.
Maybe it’s not really being busy or being a busy body but it certainly feels like it. processing information for all that is happening in the world and trying to make money trading at the same time and maintaining my normal duties and work load. My eyes are a bit bleary and I’m a bit tired, but I think in a couple of weeks things will settle into a nice groove where its all flowing nicely.
A friend of mine on the otherside of the world wrote this poem and I liked it so much that I thought I’d try to ruin it by turning it into a song. So here it is.

as you are familiar with the site, you have been aware that there is a tab labelled “Photos” up above that has a file directory that allows you to see the photos taken from my phone camera pretty much as they are snapped (naturally there are some latency issues getting it from my phone to the servers but still nearly as fast as that old Polaroid that my Pap Pap used to use.) Well, now there is a “Video” tab that has my you tube channel embedded on it. Enjoy!
you know i feel like everytime i sit down to write a new blog entry, i feel like i am behind. perhaps that is a sign that i am not writing nearly enough. then again i am starting to feel like there is a big vacuum of the internet which my voice has little to no effect in penetrating when i do blog. perhaps that is because the typical subject matter which i am spooning out is drivel about me or my family or my simple little thoughts about the little things in my life. well, they aren’t so little from my side but when put in context with the rest of the universe they seem really little.
so there is news. we have no jobs here in our house. i have been making some investment trades to generate a revenue stream and there has been a job search which is resulting in the generation of a website or three as part of the strategies. i’m still in school and TheBubster is at home for the summer while LittleBud is meeting development milestones on an almost daily basis. tonight, there was a block party which i took the kids to while TheWife went to an organizational meeting for Organizing for America. TheBubster had a great time with all the neighborhood kids, while Bud and I enjoyed out didgeridoo connection. this got us a fair share of intrigue from neighbors, which i answered to the best of my ability.
i’m working on a new music project with an old friend and i’m also trying to pull a new friend into collaborating with this, while there are a couple of other music projects taht i am hoping get off the ground. at the moment, TheWife and TheBubster are reading WonderWoman comic books together. anyways that is enough blathering for now. i’ll hit publish and see what happens.
Tonight, for the first time in her life TheBubster has used the phrase, “It’s not FAIR!!” in response to being told what to do. There have been several suggestions by multiple sources about what the appropriate response of the parents is, but for this time, it has merely been to mark it down and note it in order that we can save that for later. So here we all are noting the momentum of the occasion and realizing that it only gets faster from here. hang on and enjoy the ride!
I’ve added a link over on the right. It’s named “Get photos”. The link takes you to the Eckenrode House Shutterfly site. You can leave a message there, ask us to send you photos, or order them yourself. Excellent.
